I posted the question on FaceBook "what do you do to prevent the morning scramble?" The scramble? What is she talking about-eggs?? Who has time for that? What I am talking about has nothing to do with eggs because after all like you said --Who has time for that? The scramble I am talking about is the one where we sometimes, or maybe go through it every morning......you look at the clock before you get in the shower and think "ah plenty of time", get out of the shower start drying the hair, getting dressed, interesting news bit comes on TV--gotta stop and watch....you know the routine. Then ya think, better check the clock again....OMG! I have 10 minutes (if that) to get out the door and get going. NOW THE PRESSURE IS ON! What do you do?
Here are a couple of ideas I have come up with for getting out of "the scramble"
#1 Less is More ladies. By this I am saying that when we apply our make-up or style our hair, less is more.
~~Hairstyles short or long for daytime wear can be made simple. Longer hair can either hang natural or be put up rather quickly. If you wear your hair shorter ask your stylist (or cosmetology student --we will discuss them at a later time) to cut your hair in something short, lively and fun--not to mention easy to style. Make your hair fit your lifestyle. This alone will save time in front of the mirror. For me and my hair type, if I do not wash my hair everyday it seems to cooperate much better the second day. I know this doesn't work for everyone because we are all different and that is what makes us so great.
~~The main ingredients to fabulous make-up for daytime is a simple combination of just a few ingredients. Let us start with foundation. Whether that means a dusting of a bronzer, or the real foundation (go a little lighter than skin tone if you can't get exact coloring) and don't forget to hit the eyelids. Next ingredient would be mascara (and the magic wand to enhance this ingredient would be the EYELASH CURLER--works wonders) Last ingredient is some lip color. If you can at least work in these 3 ingredients you will have a fabulous day look and save yourself a lot of time. But if you are not crunched by the clock--feel free to add all of the details you desire.
JUST A LITTLE STORY....
I was at a ladies convention one time and I do not think anyone sitting around my table at lunch time knew each other. We were sitting there and next to our plates we had little questions to ask each other to get the conversations going. One of the questions were "If you were stranded on an island, what is the one thing in your make-up bag you could not live without" It was very interesting the different answers flying around the table. The main thing I noticed was it was always one of the three I mentioned in this blog, foundation of some sort, mascara and lip color.
On to the second tip for avoiding "the scramble" ......
#2 The night before. Plan for the next day before you go to bed. Chose what you are going to wear and lay everything you need next to your tote or purse. (if you really wanna save time-lay the items next to the purse as you think of them--less chaos in the morning when maybe we have not had our first cup of java yet) Turning this activity into a habit would be a magnificent thing to pass along to the youngins--saving them as well as you lots and lots of sanity.
****Key to saving time is not waiting til the last minute--ditch procrastination--it is not your friend
I would love to hear what has worked or maybe not worked for you when avoiding "the scramble"
